In 2017, Réno spotted Tanya one night in their local pub... and according to him, he already told his friends that night: "That's my future wife." Although he didn’t speak to her that night, a few days later he tracked her down through a mutual friend’s Facebook page and asked for her number.
Smooth, right?
They talked on the phone for months before she finally agreed to go on a date. As they got to know each other, they realized they had actually been in high school together, he was a grade younger, but the two didn't know about each other at all. After a few more months of charm, their love story officially began on September 24, 2018.
Fast forward to January 24, 2024… During a road trip through the Western Cape, Réno insisted that Tanya follow him across the very sharp rocks at Knysna Heads. Slightly confused, and probably questioning his judgement, she couldn’t understand why he was so determined to brave the rocks, until he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
